You'll find a new look to our furniture in the lounge. There's a new color scheme as we had all our pieces reupholstered.

Carpeting Removal
What a chore it was to remove all the old carpeting that was glued down. Nine years certainly was adequate curing time. The crew used a hydralic pulling device that attached to an edge of carpet while a cable pulled laterally to "peel" it back. A great time saver!

New Carpet in place
The giant rolls from the mill were cut at the installers' warehouse and brought into the building in more manageable, smaller rolls.

Installation of New Carpet
Installing the new carpeting was more traditional--lots of measuring and cutting.
Our new floor covering has a built in moisture blocking padding that should feel more plush while still considered commercial and heavy-duty.
Man from Mars?
No, just the painter
The man on the stilts worked in our office area--fresh coat of paint to keep our thoughts clear.

Adult Tournament Results
Member Takes the Title
River Trails hosted an adult men's USTA district tournament July 30th - August 1st.
The Open division had the youngest and strongest players with 13 players in the singles draw and 7 teams in the doubles division. Member Adam Shaeffer won the singles in a close final over Park Ridge player David Ptak, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (5). Adam defeated 3 other players on his way to the final. This result complements his victory as the best player in the Open division of our annual club singles championships. Nick Adamovic and Serge Kindiakov took 2nd in the Open doubles.
Also playing were men in the 50 & over singles, 60 & over singles and doubles. Bob Zumph & Bill Johnston won the 60 doubles over Bill Lange / Rick Sommer in a close match. Bill was second in the 60 singles.
Not as bad as the Gulf
Plumbing Issues
Our clay courts are heavily dependent on the elements. We need sun to keep them firm. We need rain to keep them soft to maintain the bonding of the material. Since rain is unreliable, we depend on sprinkling the courts several times a day to keep them moist. At the end of the day the watering is very heavy--until puddles actually form.
We use approximately $1,000 worth of water every summer month. Since our irrigation system is over 35 years old, there are often maintenance issues. The water lines are buried several feet below the surface and require excavating each time there's a leak. First you have to find the leak before it can be repaired.
Pictured is our vendor who has visited us 4 times already this season.
